Welcome to our little corner of the internet!
I’m Anika, and this is my rescue dog, Nutmeg. Hitting the trails with Nutmeg has brought so much joy into my life, but as every dog owner knows, exploring the outdoors with a dog brings a whole new level of responsibility.
After a few backcountry trips, I realized that while most of us pack extra water or trail snacks, very few of us have a real plan for what happens when things actually go wrong. That thought inspired The Rescue Ready Canine Workbook—a completely customizable emergency binder designed alongside first responders to protect your pet when you can’t.
Here, we’ll share everything we’ve learned along the way: trail safety protocols, pet emergency go-bag essentials, honest gear reviews, and practical tips for confident outdoor adventuring.
My goal is to share the information and tools you need so you can spend less time worrying about the “what-ifs” and more time outdoors making memories with your dog!
The Rescue Ready Canine Workbook
Stop worrying about the “What ifs?” The Rescue Ready Canine Workbook is a comprehensive emergency planning tool kit designed to ensure your dog’s care and safety never skips a beat.
We’ve bridged the gap between your verbal plans and real emergency preparedness, giving you a structured way to document everything from emergency contacts to medical essentials to the tiny quirks about your dog that only you know.
“Having a simple written plan identifying who should care for your dog in an emergency can help prevent confusion and ensure the animal is cared for during an already difficult time.” – RCMP

Whether you’re navigating a dog-sitter, a personal medical emergency, or a natural disaster, the Rescue Ready Canine Workbook ensures your dog’s care and safety will remain seamless.

This dog emergency guide is incredibly thorough, thoughtful, and easy to understand during stressful situations. It covers everything from common injuries and illnesses to step-by-step emergency responses in a way that feels practical instead of overwhelming.

I’ve always had verbal “if anything happens to me” pacts with my friends, so having the chance to actually put it in writing felt really meaningful.

The Rescue Ready Canine workbook is such a thoughtful and practical resource for dog owners. It covers so many emergency situations people hope never happen, but absolutely should be prepared for – things like lost dogs, fires, accidents, and organized emergency information. You can tell a lot of care and experience went into creating it. I think every dog owner could benefit from working through it, even if they already feel prepared. It’s one of those resources you hope you never need, but would be incredinly grateful to have if something happened.
